Some King James Bible believing folks have been accused of saying, “You can’t be saved without reading the King James Bible.” I think I’ve figured something out here – I think I’ve figured out why this modern Christianity can accept just any modern version. These folks don’t have a conviction about the individual words of God. They think that as long as you have the “message” of God then it is the same as having the “word of God”. They equate the “message of God” as being the same as the “word of God”!!!
Let’s see – here are a couple of examples:
Now, I know we take liberties with the scriptures in the heat of battle or can’t remember the verse – I’m not talking about that here. I’m talking about those who say that as long as the message is in the version then that makes it the word of God. Really, who taught you that? Where did you get that??? Do you mean if the message is there along with a lot of other junk that makes it ok?
I see this as an improper estimation of the word of God.
I see this as a terrible lack of knowledge of the word of God in general.
Well let’s see what the King James Bible says about its power and effect upon folks – you do believe the King James Bible is the word of God, don’t you?
If the word of God is vital to one’s soul and the word of God today is fond in a King James Bible then you tell me.
Of course the shallow thinkers will come up with the old worn out argument, “What about before 1611?” Real simple – before 1611 the words of God were available in multiple translations while God was refining his word. God is finished refining his word for this sin-sick world and it is found in a King James Bible. Go to Wal-Mart – you can get one for $5.95.
Then someone will say, “What about the modern versions?” Real simple – if the modern version contains verses that match the King James Bible then there they are the words of God that just happen to be surrounded by words that are not God’s words.
I believe the words of God are what count not just a “message” as mentioned above.
Bottom line:
Do you have God’s word or just some of God’s word?
Now, can one be saved without hearing or reading God's words? Well, God can do anything but I believe according to the scriptures it appears that without the word of God there is no regeneration. The power comes from God's words not just a message though God may use a message.
May God bless!
